I'm married! This past week has been a whirlwind of celebration with family and friends, love, and very little sleep. I never really believed when brides and grooms would say their wedding day was absolutely perfect and/or the best day ever. I mean how can one day outshine all the others? But now I totally get it. Marrying Josh, and all the celebration involved, was absolutely perfect. I wouldn't change a thing about our wedding and I wish I could relive it over and over again. I feel so blessed to have gotten to have that special day with my best friend, and so lucky to say I truly soaked up every minute.
I'm going to be doing a lot of recaps once I get the professional photos back. Here's us all piling in the elevator to go get them. I figured in the mean time I would do a video post. We did not have a videographer at our wedding which is something I'm a little sad about but completely okay with because of how much money it saved us. Thankfully we have some amazing friends and family who caught special moments on cameras and iPads. I'm still waiting for a friend to send us videos of our vows and ceremony, but I thought I would share some of the videos I do have. I think they give a great overview of the day. I hope you enjoy!
This video was caught completely by accident. Lily was taking photos while I was getting ready and my camera somehow multi-tasked and took video snippets as well. I love this video because I think it authentically shows what getting ready was like. There was a bit of a nerve-wracking moment where Diane and my sister were nervous the dress wouldn't fit. I'm a stress eater. Thankfully everything buttoned and zipped and laced just like it should!
One of the best investments Josh and I made in our wedding was the DJ. We found an amazing DJ named Tor who went above and beyond in his DJ'ing. Josh and I had an hour blocked off for bridal party photos during the cocktail hour but wanted an extra half an hour to get table photos and family photos. We hoped by getting the photos done before hand we wouldn't be pulled in every direction during the reception for photos and could dance and eat and enjoy the day. Thanks to the world's best photographer, Michelle, our plan totally worked. She lined up a great system to get guests organized for photos while Tor kept the rest of them entertained with Name that Tune. It's something we made up a few days before where he played songs and guests had to guess the singer and the song. If they got it right they got a birdhouse filled with Hershey Kisses (to go with our bird theme) that I had made a few days before. This could have totally flopped. I mean who plays games at weddings? But everyone was telling us how much fun and absolutely hysterical it was. He got so into it and got bridesmaids to be his chocolate distributors. Josh and I kept on hearing laughter from the ballroom while we were getting pictures and I'm so glad Mary got a part of the game on video. It was nice to experience it second hand.
Our introductions. I'm so glad Josh gave in to my desire for us to be introduced to Are You Ready for This? I'm a 90's kid through and through and grew up on Space Jam. I think it was the perfect song.
Josh and I's first dance to I Do by Marie Digby. We didn't trip on my dress and fall on the floor! That was our huge goal. I love having this moment captured on film. It's my first dance with my husband. :D
My sister requested Cupid's Shuffle and I'm so glad she did. I learned my new favorite line dance at my wedding. I'm so glad Mary caught this on film to show how packed the dance floor got for most of the night. One of my biggest fears was that no one would dance at the wedding. I always feel so awkward when there's an empty dance floor. I'm so happy to say we had people dancing for every song. I loved that I could get down in my dress.
One of the truly special touches at our wedding was the singing we had. Two of Josh's closest family friends are professionally trained singers. One is in a band and the other teaches singing at Choate. They sang a Hebrew song as Josh walked his parents down the aisle. Then they sang two love songs before the bridal party processional. I didn't get to hear them the day of the wedding since I was lined up in the hallway outside but I know they sounded amazing. Robin closed the wedding with a special rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow and it was so beautiful and moving. It meant so much that they did that for us. I thought the last song was particularly special because Josh is what's on the other side of my rainbow.
