Chili is a food that has a reputation for taking a loooong time to make. You're supposed to simmer everything over a low heat for hours so that the flavors all blend together. Those who know me know that I do not have time for that. That's why I'm so excited to share this 15 minute vegetarian chili recipe with you!

15 minute vegetarian chili her heartland soul

This recipe cuts out almost all of the traditional chili cook time through a nifty trick. By cooking the beans with just garlic, onions, peppers, and spices, the beans begin to open up and dry out slightly. Then, by adding a zesty, flavorful sauce (looking at you La Morena Mexican Red Sauce), the beans rehydrate and absorb all of the delicious flavors in the pan. The flavors come together in minutes, rather than hours.
